The WICIP project, conceived by Angela Prudenzi and Federico Spoletti and produced by L’Age
d’Or, will officially start in June 2022 with a first in-person event organised in collaboration with
Cinema Italia UK, following the pre-launch on March 7 in Toronto in collaboration with ICFF –
Italian Contemporary Film Festival.
Selected among the Special Projects of the Ministry of Culture, WICIP is the first international
project to promote Italian cinema written, produced and directed by women, and is completely
inclusive.
The films selected within the project will be made accessible to the sensory impaired. They will
therefore have subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing and audio description for the blind and
visually impaired provided by Sub-ti Access.
One in six people becomes sensory impaired at some point in their lives. We are talking about
an ever-growing portion of the public, which must be able to enjoy audio-visual content exactly
on an equal basis with other audiences.
The project’s ‘local’ partner for the first London event will be Cinema Italia UK, a well-known
charity organisation in the UK that has been committed to promoting Italian cinema in England
for many years.
The date of the event, which will include film screenings and two panel discussions – ‘Women
Equality in the Film Industry’ and “Accessible Filmmaking” – will be announced by June10.
